Everton manager Frank Lampard has made signing Southampton forward Che Adams his top priority this summer but faces a potential clash with the board at Goodison Park, according to journalist Simon Phillips. Lampard has failed to pick up a point in any of the first two Premier League games of the season, suffering defeats to Chelsea and Aston Villa, and could strengthen his side ahead of the September 1 deadline.
According to a report from The Athletic, Everton have explored the possibility of a loan-to-buy deal for the Saints striker this summer.
They also state that Southampton could be willing to sanction the 26-year-old’s departure ahead of deadline day. Nottingham Forest and Leeds United are among the other clubs interested in his services.
Adams fell out of favour under Ralph Hasenhuttl towards the end of last season and was left on the bench for their opening day defeat to Tottenham in north London.
