Manchester City have agreed a fee with Anderlecht for the transfer of Spanish left-back Sergio Gomez. City will pay €13m (£11m) plus add-ons to bring the 21-year-old to the Etihad Stadium, but that does not mean their hunt for a new left-back is over.
Following the sale of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, City failed to meet Brighton's asking price for Marc Cucurella, who has since joined Chelsea in deal worth £63m.
Gomez could stay with the first-team squad this season to bolster City's depleted options at full-back, but Pep Guardiola will assess him in training before making a decision. It is, therefore, unclear when City fans will catch their first glimpse of Gomez in action, but many of them are excited by the deal.
