This is the dramatic aftermath of a crash that has closed the M6. A section of the motorway was shut following the smash involving a lorry that caught fire this morning (April 16).
Emergency services were called to the scene in Staffordshire at around 11.40am. The northbound carriageway remains shut between Junction 12 for Cannock and Junction 13 for Stafford. An air ambulance landed on the motorway following the incident, which has caused long delays on the motorway and surrounding roads.
Diversions are currently in place. In a statement, National Highways said: "The M6 in Staffordshire is closed northbound between J12 and J13 due to a road traffic collision involving a Heavy Goods Vehicle which has overturned and caught fire. "Central Motorway Police Group, Fire & Rescue, Air Ambulance and National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene. "The southbound carriageway has been released.
