Here's Why Shreyas Iyer Did Not Come Out To Bat In 4th Test vs Australia

India batter Shreyas Iyer did not walk out to bat after Cheteshwar Pujara was dismissed on Day 3 of the ongoing fourth Test against Australia.

Instead, Ravindra Jadeja was promoted up the order. Similarly, on Day 4, wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat joined Virat Kohli in the middle after Jadeja got out, following a bizarre shot-selection.

Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has provided an update of Shreyas. The 28-year-old has picked up lower back pain and has been taken for scans. "Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in his lower back following the third day's play.

He has gone for scans and the BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him," the BCCI said in a statement. However, the BCCI did not make it clear whether he will come out to bat or not.

Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill were in the spotlight during India's innings in the ongoing fourth and final Test match against Australia. While the rising star Gill shone with his 128-run knock at the start of the innings, the batting veteran Kohli raced to his 28th Test century (186 runs) -- a hundred in the format after more than three years. Both the batters used the friendly conditions at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad beautifully to their advantage. The duo, however, is also being talked about due to a bromance video that has gone viral on the internet.

IND vs AUS, 4th Test, Day 5 Live Score Updates: India would aim to turn things in their favour on Monday when the Australian team comes out to bat, resuming at the score of 3. Openers Matthew Kuhnemann and Travis Head will have the responsibility to keep the guests in the game.
India rode Virat Kohli's brilliant century and Axar Patel's equally effective supporting act to take control on Day 4 of the fourth Test match against Australia on Sunday. While the Indian batsmen looking quite comfortable against the Australia bowlers, veteran spinner Nathan Lyon was able to claim a massive milestone. With the dismissal of KS Bharat, Lyon became the highest overseas wicket-taker in Test matches on Indian soil. He currently has 55 wickets from 11 matches in India and he surpassed the record held by former England spinner Derek Underwood. Underwood had 54 wickets against India in away matches from 16 games with best figures of 5 for 84.
Nathan Lyon may have got just a single wicket after sending down 30-odd overs on the day but he feels that his effort on Saturday during India's first innings was way better than his 11-wicket match haul in Indore on a track designed for spinners. India finished the third day at 289 for 3 in reply to Australia's 480 on a good batting deck. "It's more of a patient game. When the pitch is like Indore... I felt like I bowled better today than what I did in Indore. And it's just coming down to doing your basics well enough for long enough," Lyon said. For him, Tests like these are decided in the last half an hour and right now it is on even keel.
