Heavy traffic on M4 as crash shuts city centre road - live updates

Heavy traffic is reported on the M4 at the same time that a crash has closed a main Newport city centre road. Traffic monitoring service Inrix reports that the A4042 is closed in both directions in Newport centre, with queueing traffic due to accident from A4042 (Grove Park Roundabout) to the A4051.

Travel time is 20 minutes.Newport Bus has reported that an accident by Sainsbury's is affecting traffic along Malpas Road and the Kingsway in front of the bus station.

A statement from Gwent Police said: "Please be advised that officers are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on the A4042 and both the Northbound carriageway and South bound carriageway is closed from Harlequin Roundabout Newport, towards the top of Junction 25 A." Elsewhere, traffic is also slow on the M4 Eastbound in Swansea from J46 Clasemont Road to J45 A4067 Ynysforgan.
