Cork City goalkeeper David Harrington has completed a transfer to English League One side Fleetwood Town.The 22-year-old made 33 appearances for the Turner's Cross outfit since making his debut in 2021 after progressing through the club’s academy.Harrington, who is currently suffering with a shoulder injury, has signed with The Cods until 2026 having helped City earn promotion back to the top flight last season.He had previously been linked with a move to Premier League club Everton.City manager Colin Healy said: "David is another academy graduate who has done very well for us since he came into the first team."He is now moving on to the next step of his career and we thank him for his service to the club and wish him the very best of luck for the future."Harrington is the second League of Ireland player to move to the club this window after Phoenix Patterson - the 2022 PFAI First Division Player of the Year - joined from Waterford.Town are owned by Andy Pilley, who is also owner of the Blues.In December, both clubs simultaneously announced that former Republic of Ireland striker Jonathan Walters would be their new technical director.
