Scotland were put to the sword by England 3-1 at Hampden in the SFA’s 150th anniversary clash. Steve Clarke’s in-form side were given a dose of reality by the Auld Enemy who were comfortable winners.
Goals from Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane saw off the Scots whose only response was a Harry Maguire OG. Scotland are well on course to qualify for the Euro 2024 Finals in Germany next summer after winning their first five qualifying games.
But they were outclassed for long spells by Gareth Southgate’s side who could have won by a bigger margin. The visitors started strongly and scored twice in two minutes just after the half hour mark.
Kyle Walker fizzed a cross into the six-yard box which was stabbed home by his Manchester City team-mate Foden to make it 1-0.
