Former Bangladesh cricket team captain Tamim Iqbal was all praise for India captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir for the mentality shown by their side during the second Test match in Kanpur.

The first three days of the match was impacted by rain and wet outfield but India came out swinging on Day 4 and their aggressive batting show paved the way for victory.

India broke the record for the fastest 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 in Tests and on Tuesday, they bowled out Bangladesh for the second time in the match.

Tamim praised the approach and grit shown by the Indian cricket team before adding that such a tactic is only possible if there if full support from the coach and the captain. "When Bangladesh play against Zimbabwe there's a lot to lose for Bangladesh, not a lot to gain.

As India collapsed to 46 all out in the first Test against New Zealand, former India cricketer Manoj Tiwari criticised not only India's selection, but also the apparent lack of common sense in certain decisions taken by the team. Tiwary criticised captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir, emphasizing that their decision to bat despite an entire day being washed out due to rain as a bizarre decision. He also critiqued Gambhir further for not being able to guide Rohit Sharma in his selection process.
India's victorious T20 World Cup 2024 campaign didn't feature wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson in any many. Despite the fact that Rishabh Pant was making his return to the national side after a long injury layoff, Team India decided to stick with him over picking an in-form Samson. However, right before the final against South Africa, India captain Rohit Sharma had asked Samson to be ready as there was a big chance he would be playing in the title clash. However, it all changed just minutes before the toss.
New Zealand won a Test in India for the first time in almost 36 years, beating the hosts in the opener of three-match series in Bengaluru on Sunday. The visitors reaped rewards after dismissing India for a record-low total of 46 in the first innings. New Zealand had replied to India's first innings with 402 then dismissed India for 462 in their second innings. The visitors then chased down 107 with eight wickets to spare, thanks to an unbeaten partnership of 75 between Will Young and Rachin Ravindra.
Team India had to shuffle the batting order a bit after Shubman Gill missed out on the first Test against New Zealand. In Gill's absence Virat Kohli was promoted to the No. 3 spot while Sarfaraz Khan batted at No. 4. Both batters incurred ducks, prompted many to question the decision taken by the head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Rohit Sharma. As India's tactical decisions in the first innings backfired, former wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik raised some tough questions over the calls taken by the team management, especially the head coach Gambhir.
Since India's usual number three Shubman Gill had to sit out of this match with a stiff neck, Virat Kohli walked out in to bat in that position after eight years. However, he perised for a nine-ball duck. After stumps on Day 2, India captain Rohit Sharma said it was Kohli's decision to bat in that position. "The experienced players are the ones who have to take that extra responsibility. It is a good sign. This time, it was Virat. He was the one who was ready to do that. We asked him whether he can bat at number three," Rohit revealed.
Not yet a certainty in Team India's white-ball teams, but Sanju Samson isn't giving up hopes of making his Test debut for the nation. The wicket-keeper batter, who hit his maiden T20I ton in the match against Bangladesh, has made his dream of representing the country in red-ball cricket public. In fact, Samson has already had a chat with Team India's leadership group - head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Rohit Sharma - about his Test ambitions. What's promising is the fact that Rohit and Gambhir, apparently, also see Samson as a player who can do well in Test cricket.
