Four taken to hospital after Swansea student block fire

Four people were taken to hospital following a fire at a student block. There was a large emergency services presence after a fire broke out at a Swansea student accommodation block.

Emergency services attended the incident on New Cut Road in Swansea on Monday evening.Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed 12 appliances rushed to the Student Roost St Davids student accommodation block, where the fire took place.

South Wales Police also attended and closed the road near the block for several hours. The force confirmed that people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Sergeant Samantha Stone said: “Four occupants were conveyed to hospital with minor injuries (smoke inhalation; one had a minor hand injury).”Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Follow live updates on this incident below:
