Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has given an update on how he sees Mick Schumacher’s future with the team, with his contract up at the end of the year.
The German, as things stand, does not have a drive for 2023 but there still appears to be some options for him to potentially consider before next year.
Indeed, he’s been linked to the Alpine seat available alongside Esteban Ocon, with the Frenchman saying he’d like to see Mick join the team, whilst Nicholas Latifi’s exit from Williams has sparked speculation that he might end up there instead, if he leaves Haas. He had very good races in Canada, Britain and Austria, but he lacks consistency – he should be strong more often. “We are in no rush with drivers, and Mick still has opportunities to show what he can do.” Steiner has said regularly that Haas are not in a rush to find a team-mate for Kevin Magnussen for next year and if that is indeed the case then that could yet work in Mick’s favour.
