A football fan has been ordered to stay away from the Etihad Stadium after assaulting a police officer and throwing a 'missile' during a Manchester City match.

Niall Dixon, 20, was hauled before a court following an incident during City's Champions League fixture against Young Boys at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season.

The nature of the 'missile' was not disclosed in court. At Manchester Crown Court, Dixon, from Glossop, Derbyshire, admitted an offence of assaulting an emergency worker, and had previously pleaded guilty to an offence of throwing a missile, under the Football Offences Act 1991.

He will be sentenced on next month and was granted bail before then, with a condition being that he stays away from the Etihad Stadium. "That condition will continue to apply," Judge Alan Conrad KC said. Try MEN Premium now for FREE...
