Firefighters remain at the scene of a fire which broke out yesterday (June 9) on Marsden Moor. Crews from 13 fire stations were initially called to the blaze on the moor which crosses between Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire.
Dramatic pictures were released of firefighters tackling heavy smoke to get the blaze under control. Fires on the moor, just east of Saddleworth, have become a regular site in recent months, especially in times of warm weather.

A spokesperson said they will be damping down hot spots and asking the public to stay away from the area. A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We are still in attendance at a wildfire on Marsden Moor which was contained overnight and now measures approximately 200m by 150m.
