A fast bowler is rejoining Kent on a two-match loan to bolster their depleted attack. Conor McKerr will reunite with Matt Walker’s team on a temporary basis from Surrey for their LV= Insurance County Championship Division 1 games against Warwickshire and Essex, having signed for their last two four-day fixtures in 2022.
All-rounder Grant Stewart came off against Northamptonshire in their opening-match seven-wicket success with stiffness in his side, while Nathan Gilchrist also missed the game.
Asked who may be fit for the Warwickshire game at Edgbaston - which starts from tomorrow - of their bowlers, batting coach Alex Gidman replied on Easter Sunday: “I don’t know, genuinely. “With the sort of limited pre-season, there was always a chance, around the circuit, that we might lose a couple of bowlers early on.” The 25-year-old took 1-41 in 12 overs in the second innings of their win at Hampshire and 1-57 in 13 overs in the first innings of Kent’s innings triumph over Somerset.
McKerr was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and signed for Surrey in 2016. His other previous loan experience in England came at Derbyshire.
