Darwin Nunez is fast building a reputation for himself in the Premier League. The Uruguayan, who Liverpool signed for an initial fee of £67 million this summer before potential performance related add-ons are included, was sent off in his Premier League home debut for headbutting Joachim Andersen.
The reckless act and the ensuing red card left him suspended for the Reds’ following three matches. Which is a real shame because based off of his performances against Manchester City and Fulham – the two games prior to the Crystal Palace match – he has all the potential to become a diamond in Liverpool’s front-line.
Sure, he’s a bit rough around the edges, but still just 23-years-old he can evolve under Jurgen Klopp’s coaching and Kopites are understandly excited about Nunez.
Unfortunately, though, his return to action against Everton on Saturday didn’t go exactly to plan. The team underperformed and created very little clear cut chances, so despite Nunez showing flashes of promise throughout the 90 minutes, it wasn’t the dream return he no doubt craved.
