Louis Saha says he is certain that Andre Onana would be the “ideal” next No.1 for Manchester United, regardless of whether David de Gea stays or leaves.
Inter star Onana has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford with De Gea yet to agree a reduced-terms renewal. The Spaniard becomes a free agent on Saturday, 12 years after his arrival.
Erik ten Hag has refused to name him as the first-choice goalkeeper for next season following a number of mistakes that led to goals over the last year.
De Gea won the Premier League Golden Glove and made a number of superb saves but is lacking with the ball at feet. Ten Hag is said to want a shot-stopper who is comfortable with passing, and Saha believes Champions League finalist Onana - who worked under the United boss at Ajax - is a perfect fit.
