Manager Erik ten Hag has said the thoughts of everyone at Manchester United are currently with former goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
The legendary Dutch goalkeeper suffered a brain haemorrhage while on holiday in Croatia almost a fortnight ago. He was admitted to intensive care, though his condition was described as being 'stable'.
However, Van der Sar, who spent six years at Old Trafford, announced on Tuesday evening that he was out of intensive care. He added that he is now in a Dutch hospital and is continuing to be treated.
Taking to his Twitter page, the former United star said: "I'm happy to share that I'm no longer in the intensive care unit. However, I'm still in hospital. Ahead of United's 1-0 pre-season friendly win over Lyon at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Wednesday afternoon, Ten Hag, who worked with Van der Sar at Ajax, took the opportunity at the beginning of his pre-match TV interview to wish his former colleague well and inform him that everyone associated with the Reds has him in their thoughts. "It was a real shock for everyone," Ten Hag told MUTV. "I think in Manchester, all the fans from Manchester and in the Netherlands as well.
