Erik ten Hag sends message to Anthony Martial over his Manchester United future

Erik ten Hag has told Anthony Martial he isn't fighting for his Manchester United future despite his ongoing fitness issues this season.

Martial has been in training for 10 days after returning from his latest absence, but he is yet to make a matchday squad and the striker won't be risked in the FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham today.

The 27-year-old has only played once for United since easing his way through 45 minutes against Manchester City at Old Trafford in January and he's now missed 30 games this term through five separate absences, including hip, back, Achilles and hamstring problems. But Martial has tended to make an impact when he's been available, scoring six goals and creating two more in just 722 minutes of action, and Ten Hag believes the team performs at a higher level when he starts.
