Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp admits he is flattered to be linked with Manchester United. After striking up swoops for Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez this summer, United have continued their much-needed rebuild by signing Casemiro from Real Madrid.

But will they complete any further business before the window slams shut at 11pm on Thursday, September 1? United remain keen on signing Antony from Ajax and PSV starlet Cody Gakpo - although deals for both players are unlikely to be sanctioned during the same window - while the club are also in the market for a new back-up goalkeeper to offset Dean Henderson signing for Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest on loan. However, the prospect of a switch from the Bundesliga has been dead-batted by the player and his manager. Trapp, 32, was pressed on his future at the Sport Bild awards ceremony on Monday night.

He said: "As I said during my first spell at Frankfurt, it's always nice when rumours like this come out. It's a nice acknowledgement - but I can't say anything about it." Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner added: "From a sporting point of view, I would of course like to keep such a great goalkeeper and person.
