The FAI have confirmed that Eileen Gleeson will remain in charge of the Republic of Ireland team for the remainder of their Nations League campaign.Gleeson had been appointed interim head coach following the FAI's decision to not extend Vera Pauw's contract at the end of their World Cup campaign. The former Glasgow City, UCD Waves and Peamount United boss was previously assistant coach to Pauw and has overseen two impressive performances during her time in charge.Under Gleeson's stewardship, Ireland beat Northern Ireland 3-0 at the Aviva Stadium and followed that up with a 4-0 victory away to Hungary. The FAI had previously indicated that Gleeson was not in the not running to replace Pauw permanently but will remain as the FAI's Head of Women and Girls' Football, a role she was only appointed to in January this year. The organisation have now confirmed that Gleeson will remain in situ for at least the next four games.A statement from the FAI confirmed the decision.

It read: "Eileen Gleeson will continue as Interim WNT Head Coach for remainder of UEFA Nations League Group campaign."Recruitment for a new Head Coach has reached a long list of candidates and this will move to a short list within the coming month."Gleeson's next games are a double header, home and away to Albania at the end of October, followed by a clash with Hungary in Dubin and then a trip to face Northern Ireland in December. With two wins from their opening two Nations League games, Ireland are currently in pole position for promotion to League A.
