Egan Bernal will compete at the Volta a Catalunya next week, his team Ineos Grenadiers has confirmed. Bernal will make his European season debut at the event as he continues on the long road back to finding form and fitness following a serious accident in January 2022 that came close to taking his life.

On Tuesday, Ineos revealed that Bernal would head up their squad for the event in Spain, which takes place from March 20 to March 26.
He will be joined by team-mate by Geraint Thomas, who missed the Tirreno-Adriatico due to a recurring illness he suffered before the Tour Down Under.
