East Kilbride interim boss Martin Fellowes was delighted to sign off the Lowland League season with a late win over Cowdenbeath and heaped praise on youngster Danny McManus for his contribution.
Kilby trailed the Blue Brazil 1-0 going into the final 15 minutes at Central Park on Saturday, but McManus levelled things up before winning the penalty that Bob McHugh slotted away in the 78th minute and then Ross Taylor made sure of the points with a 90th minute goal.
It ensured a sixth-place finish for EK as they prepare to welcome new boss Mick Kennedy for next season. And Fellowes said: “I actually thought we were playing really well in what was difficult conditions and when Cowdenbeath scored I thought ‘oh, here we go’. “They scored with their only real clear cut chance, but the boys were brilliant in the last 20 minutes.
It was a case of keep doing what we are doing and the goals would come, and that’s exactly what happened. “I’m really happy for Danny McManus.
