Duncan Ferguson says the rulebook was 'rewritten' with his prison stint as he claims he was asked to return to playing for the national side EVERY year.
The Inverness Caledonian Thistle boss was sent to prison back in 1994 and ordered to serve three months in jail for head-butting Raith Rovers defender John McStay whilst playing for Rangers, having been convicted of an on-field assault.
And the former Everton man has spoken at length about his time spent at Barlinnie that saw an end to his Scotland career. He also sued the SFA back then and didn't reignite his Scotland career.
But Ferguson claimed he was asked every single year to return to the national side, even when he was in his 30s as he revealed he came very close to pulling on the jersey when asked by Rangers icon Ally McCoist.
