Virat Kohli struck his 28th century in the longest format during the fourth Test between India and Australia on Sunday. This ton was a special one as it came after a long wait of 3.5 years and was Kohli's 75th international century.

He had last touched the triple figures in Tests in November 2019 against Bangladesh. Kohli's fiery hundred guided Team India to a total of 571 on Day 4 of the fourth Test, which eventually ended in a draw on Monday.

The right-handed batter has been receiving a lot of praise from fans as well as former cricketers. Interestingly, former Australia batter Mark Waugh, who had criticised Kohli for dropping catches at the slip position during the first Test in Nagpur, also lavished praise on the former India skipper for his most-awaited century.

However, Waugh doesn't think Kohli is at his best yet. “The drought's over. The gates have opened. You could tell right from the get-go he meant business.

Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli truly turned on a spectacle of batting as he and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis made light work of the 172-run chase against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Sunday. Du Plessis was named the player of the match for his 43-ball 73 but it was Kohli who ended up as RCB's top-scoring batter, scoring an unbeaten 82 off 49 balls to take the team over the line. As the match concluded, the cricketing world went ga-ga over Kohli's performance, with Chris Gayle even predicting a season 2016-like show where the India batter nearly scored 1000 runs in the campaign.
After a rare ODI series loss at home to Australia, the Indian cricket team stars have joined or are joining their respective franchises for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The two months of franchise T20 cricket is likely to give the Indian team management even more idea of how the players are positioned entering the World Cup-preparation phase. One player who will be closely watch is Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya. After a wait of 1205 days, Virat Kohli this month finally registered a Test century, bringing up three figures in the fourth and final game against Australia in Ahmedabad. It was the 28th Test century for the batting star and his 75th in international cricket. There was a gap of 41 innings between his last century and this one, with the previous one coming over three years ago against Bangladesh in November 2019. As the 34-year-old battled through his lean patch and returned to his vintage form, many former cricketers and analysts are showing the belief that he will surpass cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's mighty record of 100 international tons.
Truly one of the greatest batters of all time, Virat Kohli was unarguably at one of the lowest points in his career over the last 2-3 years where he could not hit a single hundred. However, over the last few months, the veteran batter seems to be nearing his best, having scored a century each in all three formats. Ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kohli has given an excellent message of hope to the franchise's fans.
Hardik Pandya is back to his best as an all-rounder. The star has been contributing both with the bat and ball in the limited overs formats. He has also been regularly leading the team in the T20Is. He was also the stand-in captain in the first ODI against Australia. On Wednesday, Pandya once again proved to be quite a handful with the ball as he took three wickets in three overs. With Australia in full flow, reaching 61/0 in 10 overs, Pandya came to India's rescue. He got the wickets of Travis Head (33), Steve Smith (0) and Mitchell Marsh (47) in the 11th, 13th and 15th overs respectively.
Two of the finest batters in Indian cricket history, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have done wonders with the bat in the Indian team. In the ODI series against Australia, Rohit and Kohli haven't had the best of outings, failing to score many runs on the board. However, they will have a chance to reach a historic milestone in the third ODI against the Aussies. As a pair, Rohit-Kohli remain just two runs shy of completing 5000 runs in the 50-over format of international cricket.
