David Moran announces Kerry retirement

David Moran has announced his retirement from Kerry football after a 14-year career that culminated in three All-Ireland titles and two All-Stars.The Kerins O' Rahilly’s clubman played in his side’s recent All-Ireland Club semi-final loss to eventual champions Kilmacud Crokes at Croke Park, six months after starting his final Kingdom game at the venue – their 0-20 to 0-16 final win over Galway.That Celtic Cross was added to wins in 2009 and 2014, joining Tipperary hurler Declan Ryan as a player who has won All-Ireland titles in three different decades - the first and last of those under current boss Jack O'Connor and the '14 triumph during Éamonn Fitzmaurice's time in charge.Moran made his Kerry senior debut in an Allianz Football League match with Donegal in 2008 and made his championship debut against Cork in the same season.

In all, he made 58 championship appearances and scored 3-41.Moran, son of eight-time All-Ireland winner, Denis 'Ogie', also won 10 Munster titles, four Division 1 titles and two McGrath Cups in the green and gold."Congratulations to David on such a fantastic legacy in Kerry, for your hard work, dedication and for being such an amazing role model to all aspiring players in your own club Kerins O’ Rahilly’s and across the county," Kerry GAA said."We wish David, Sinead, Eli and all of his family all the very best in the future."
