Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has claimed that David de Gea does not suit Erik ten Hag's style of play. De Gea himself admitted that Manchester United's players are still lacking confidence despite the appointment of Erik ten Hag, after holding his hands up for costing his side the game against Brentford.
The Spaniard was at fault for the first two goals in the humiliating 4-0 defeat, allowing Josh Dasilva's shot to squirm under his body and then playing his side into trouble as they attempted to pass out from the back, with Mathias Jensen scoring.
And Foster says that although the first goal was a huge error on the keeper's behalf, he can excuse it, but it was the second goal which worries him more - claiming that he does not believe the Spaniard suits the manager's philosophy of playing out of the back. That’s just a mistake and everyone makes mistakes. It’s poor technique from him. But it’s one of those shots where it’s inbetween a dive and a scoop and he hasn't executed any of them.
