Crystal Palace put potential suitors off talisman Wilfried Zaha with the price tag they put on him this summer, according to journalist Dean Jones. The 29-year-old’s future was surrounded in speculation once again throughout the previous window, but he ended up staying put at Selhurst Park past Thursday’s 11 pm deadline.
Zaha has been linked with a plethora of Premier League and top European clubs in recent years and it was no different this time around, with Chelsea, Arsenal and AS Roma all reportedly keen to snap him up.
However, it was perhaps more surprising than ever to see the Ivory Coast international remain in south London given he has entered the final year of his current contract.
Ed Aarons of The Guardian claimed that Zaha was ‘one of several players who has been discussed’ by the Chelsea hierarchy in the final stages of the market as they looked to replace Romelu Lukaku.
