Multiple Pirelli National Superstock Champion Richard Cooper will make a welcome return to the Jim Finlay Sunflower Trophy races this Friday and Saturday at the Bishopscourt race circuit, having recently joined forces with local based Boyce Precision Engineering Yamaha by Russell Racing. Cooper, popular with the local race fans, brings a wealth of experience to the team, having been victorious in winning races in 600 and Superbike, along with three BSB Superstock titles.
Last year, the Nottinghamshire rider, riding the Buildbase Suzuki, just lost out in the final lap to Christian Iddon. Last weekend at Brands Hatch, where he made his debut for the team, Cooper went on to take second and third placings in the Quattro Group British Supersport races.
Cooper will also be on board the JMC/KMR Kawasaki in the Supertwin races. Joining Cooper in the Boyce Precision Engineering/Russell racing team will be Isle of Man TT Star Ian Hutchinson, who took a top ten in this year’s Supersport TT races.
Both riders will compete in the Supersport 600 and Sunflower Trophy races. The 600 race lineup includes Jeremy McWilliams (WCR Honda), Alaistair Seeley (IFS Yamaha), Eunan McGlinchy and Derek Sheils (McAdoo Racing Kawasakis), Korie McGreevey ( Century Racing Yamaha), Adam McLean ( Yamaha), Mike Browne (RK Racing Yamaha), Jason Lynn (JMC Roofing Kawasaki), Sam Laffins, Jamie Lyons and Cameron Dawson, each returning from a full season of racing in the British 600 Stock class.
