Cole Palmer has revealed he did not want to leave Manchester City prior to completing a deadline day move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Palmer, 21, completed a £40million move from the Etihad Stadium to Stamford Bridge in August and has since hit the ground running in London, with eight goals and seven assists across his 21 appearances for the club.

It is a start that not even he envisaged when he decided to join Mauricio Pochettino's squad. "I wanted to get into the team, play and show what I can do," he told Sky Sports. "But to get in the team straight away and hit the ground running has surprised me to be fair."
