Chennai Super Kings Predicted XI vs Lucknow Super Giants, IPL 2023: Will MS Dhoni And Co. Play Extra Spinner?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) look to get back to winning ways when they take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Wednesday.

After suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time this season, CSK's form has dipped. However, the MS Dhoni-led side's ability to bounce back can never be underestimated.

With the tactical acumen of Dhoni playing a vital role in most of their victories this season, the former India captain could exploit the situation once again.

Notably, CSK had won the reverse fixture by 12 runs in Chennai. Here's what we think could be CSK's playing XI vs LSG: CSK will once again lean heavily on their New Zealand opener Devon Conway, who has been in the form of his life, scoring 414 runs from nine matches at an average of 59.14 and strike rate of 144.25.

Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar brought their 'A' game to the fore as Chennai Super Kings cantered to a 77-run crushing victory over Delhi Capitals to seal an IPL play-off berth in Delhi on Saturday. Playing a must-win game, Conway (87 off 52) and Gaikwad (79 off 50) smashed brilliant half-centuries to help Chennai Super Kings post a challenging 223/3 after captain MS Dhoni opted to bat. Skipper David Warner, DC's best batter this season, waged a lone battle, scoring 86 off 58 deliveries. But in the end the home team could manage only 146/9 in 20 overs after Chahar dealt a killer blow removing a couple of top-order batters within Powerplay overs.
Delhi Capitals will be squaring off against Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2023 match on Saturday, at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi. DC will be coming to this clash after registering a 15-run victory over Punjab Kings. On the other hand, CSK faced a six-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous match. Currently, CSK are at the second spot on the points table with 15 points and just require a win to qualify into the playoffs. A win would, however, confirm a play-off spot but whether they finish in second place or third would depend on the Lucknow Super Giants' result against Kolkata Knight Riders later in the day.
Defending champions Gujarat Titans, having qualified for the playoffs already, continue to rule the charts at the top with 9 wins in 13 matches (18 points). They are followed by Chennai Super Kings (15 points) and Lucknow Super Giants (15 points). Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by 6 wickets but couldn't make significant gains in the points table. They climbed up to the 5th spot in the table, one place behind Royal Challengers Bangalore who are yet to play their last league game of the campaign.
A determined Chennai Super Kings unit wouldn't mind being masters of its own fate in its bid to steamroll the already ousted Delhi Capitals, who are looking to end a forgettable IPL campaign on a high in a final league game in New Delhi on Saturday. At the moment, CSK are on second on the points table with 15 points from 13 games. But a loss against DC along with a string of unfavourable results could see the four-time champions miss out on the last leg of IPL action. A win would, however, confirm a play-off spot but whether they finish in second place or third would depend on the Lucknow Super Giants' result against Kolkata Knight Riders later in the day.
