Chelsea youngster Carney Chukwuemeka will have to wait for his chance at Stamford Bridge this season, says journalist Pete O’Rourke. The midfielder joined the Blues from Aston Villa in a £20m deal last month but is yet to play a competitive match for his new side.
While Chukwuemeka has not featured for Chelsea in the Premier League or Champions League yet, he has played in a friendly. The 18-year-old was handed minutes in a recent behind-closed-doors game against Brighton and managed to get himself on the scoresheet twice.
Although Chukwuemeka has not played in a competitive fixture for Chelsea, he has been named on their bench on more than one occasion, so it may only be a matter of time before he eventually makes his debut for the west London club.
Speaking upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly told the club’s official website: “We are delighted to be able to bring him to Chelsea and add such a talented young individual to our squad for the new season and beyond.” O’Rourke says Chelsea see huge potential in Chukwuemeka.
