Chelsea forward Timo Werner is “desperate” to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, according to journalist Simon Phillips. The 26-year-old is currently being linked with a return to RB Leipzig after leaving the Bundesliga outfit for the Blues two years ago.
As per the Evening Standard, Chelsea and Leipzig are in talks over a potential transfer for Werner. The German recently hinted that his future could lie away from west London, telling reporters that Stamford Bridge is not the only place where he is able to be happy, a statement Thomas Tuchel was not too pleased to hear.
In response, the Blues boss said (via MailOnline): “I’m surprised, I would be very happy as a young guy having a contract at Chelsea football club.
I would be one of the happiest people on the planet. “He needs to get his game time. He has to show quality, take your place and defend your place.
