One of Erik ten Hag's key problems which he will need to resolve in the summer is the captaincy debate. Manchester United's current skipper Harry Maguire has been out of favour for a long time now and while it is not unusual for a club captain to find himself with a limited role in the first team, it appears questionable whether he will be remaining at Old Trafford beyond this campaign.
Should he decide to leave the club in the summer, it looked as though there was only one candidate for the role. Bruno Fernandes has worn the armband in the absence of Maguire and his ability to do the job was not doubted, up until recently.
The Portuguese midfielder's actions during the 7-0 loss to Liverpool led many to take a step back and re-evaluate whether he is actually a good fit for the position full-time. That is why this weekend, another candidate for the role emerged. Casemiro was awarded the Brazil armband for the very first time for the international friendly with Morocco.
