Carl Starfelt breaks Celta Vigo record on debut as former Celtic star involved in last minute drama

It wasn't a quiet introduction to life in La Liga for former Celtic defender Carl Starfelt, but the Swede did break a record in his first game.

The Swede upped sticks for Celta Vigo this month after securing a Treble under Ange Postecoglou last campaign. The 28-year-old left a void in the Celtic defence that new boss Brendan Rodgers has moved to fill with fellow countryman Gustaf Lagerbielke from Elfsborg and Polish youngster Maik Nawrocki being recruited at Parkhead.

The Irishman reckons Starfelt left Glasgow for "personal reasons" as he joined former Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez at Celta.

And it was not the most comfortable of bows for the defender with Celta finding themselves 1-0 down inside 22 minutes after Real Sociedad struck through Ander Barrenetxea to send the home fans wild.
