Carabao Cup third round draw RECAP Manchester United and Man City handed Premier League ties

Manchester United and Manchester City have both been handed Premier League ties in the third round of the Carabao Cup, with the Reds hosting Crystal Palace and the Blues travelling to Newcastle.

The city's two Premier League clubs were granted byes to this stage of the competition due to their presence in the Champions League group stages.

Erik ten Hag's men enter the competition with fond memories from last season. Goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford secured the first major honour of the Dutchman's era at Old Trafford as Newcastle were defeated at Wembley.

Pep Guardiola's team have been a dominant force in the competition in recent seasons but last term they were knocked out by Southampton in the quarter-finals, meaning the trophy was the only one missing as they secured a historic treble.
