Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski captures 1st doubles title at major event, prevailing at U.S. Open

Ottawa's Gabriela Dabrowski and partner Erin Routliffe of New Zealand took the women's doubles final at the U.S. Open, defeating Germany's Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva of Russia on Sunday at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City.

For Dabrowski, who has won a pair of Grand Slam titles in mixed doubles, this is her first doubles title at a major event. The 28-year-old Routliffe grew up in Caldedon, Ont., but competes for New Zealand, where she was born.
