With one win in six outings, Delhi Capitals (DC) have had a torrid start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 campaign.

The biggest concern for DC has been the form of opening batter Prithvi Shaw, who has failed to get starts so far. In six matches, Shaw has conjured just 43 runs, which is highly below-par for a player of his calibre.

Speaking on his struggles, former England captain Michael Vaughan feels that Shaw needs to score runs as he can't just play on reputation. "Early in the tournament, Mark Wood bowled him.

His feet went nowhere. He was waiting for the short one but it was pitched up and he was nowhere near the line of the ball. I think Prithvi needs runs.

The talismanic skipper's couple of monstrous sixes in his 9-ball-20 did help CSK get to 167 for 8, which was at least 20 runs above-par on a tacky Chepauk track. The total was just what Dhoni needed to marshall his bowlers as Delhi Capitals were never in hunt after their batting mainstays David Warner (0), Phil Salt (17) and Mitch Marsh (5) were out by the start of the fourth over.

With four wins in their last five outings, Delhi Capitals now look to spoil the party for the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings when both teams face off in their IPL 2023 match on Wednesday. Last time out, DC outclassed Royal Challengers Bangalore to keep their playoff chances alive. The David Warner-led side will need to perform very well if they aim to surprise CSK in their den, which is easier said than done. It is highly unlikely that the management will make any changes to the side.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were blown away by Delhi Capitals in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. Chasing a target of 182, the David Warner-led side rode on Phil Salt's counter-attacking half-century and crossed the finishing line with 20 balls to spare. Salt hit 87 off just 45 balls with the help of eight 4s and six 6s. With the win, DC moved out from the bottom spot in the IPL 2023 points table
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) haven't found the same 'finishing touch' from Dinesh Karthik that made the franchise all but forget AB de Villiers last season. The wicket-keeper batter has struggled for runs and has even been central to a few avoidable run-outs in the middle. In the match against Delhi Capitals, Karthik could only make 11 runs from 9 balls before being dismissed. However, the veteran cricketer could've recieved his marching order earlier, when seemed to have 'obstructed the field' during the match.
Phil Salt came up with an outrageous display of ball striking as Delhi Capitals kept themselves alive in the Indian Premier League with a thumping seven-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday. Virat Kohli (55 off 56) completed his 'homecoming' with a landmark fifty before Mahipal Lomror (54 not out off 29) came up with a career-best knock to take Royal Challengers Bangalore to 181 for four. Needing to win every game from here on to have a shot at a play-off berth, Delhi's overseas batters played fearlessly to gun down the total in 16.4 overs. Besides Salt's sensational 87 off 45 balls, David Warner (22 off 14), Mitchell Marsh (26 off 17) and Rilee Rossouw (29 not out off 21) produced timely cameos.
