Bruno Fernandes thinks Manchester United deserved to beat Brentford on Saturday because they 'controlled the game'. United were aware of the importance of winning against Brentford after back-to-back defeats against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray, but they made a nightmare start to the game when conceding first in the 26th minute.
Andre Onana, who got a weak hand to Mathias Jensen's low-driven shot, should have done better and Casemiro was also guilty for giving the ball away in the build-up to the goal, which saw him hooked at the interval. McTominay replaced Soyan Amrabat in the 87th minute and he dramatically equalised in the third minute of injury time before remarkably scoring again to win the game in the seventh minute of added time.
United have McTominay to thank for the victory and Fernandes admitted he was relieved when speaking to MUTV. "Relief, happiness and we all agree that we deserved this result because during the 90 minutes, we controlled the game really well and we could have scored in the first half," he said when asked about the dressing room's reaction. "We didn't and we know when we don't score and concede, it's always going to be tough, but today we got three points and two goals from Scott at the last minute.
