Hunter Brian Harman vowed to celebrate Open glory by taking the Claret Jug for a ride on his new tractor. The American star ploughed over his rivals at Hoylake to win by six.

Harman didn’t slip on a rain-sodden Sunday of the 151st Championship as he ruthlessly farmed the prize to grab his first Major.

The 36-year-old planned to guzzle Guinness from the game’s most cherished silverware after his runaway triumph. Harman then intends taking it with him onto his newest mechanical toy as, when asked if he was going to buy a new rifle with his £2.3 million winners cheque, he said: “I’m a bow hunter, so no new rifles.

I had a nice week a couple weeks ago and I bought a new tractor for my hunting place, so I’ll get home and I’ll be on the tractor mowing grass in the next few weeks. “I’ll excited about that.
