Fighting Scots Gym coach David Sutherland has tipped boxer Lennon Mulligan for the top as he prepares for his pro debut. The 21-year-old from Glasgow takes on Lithuanian Marius Vysniauskas, 37, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central on Friday night as part of Kynoch Promotions’ Unfinished Business show.

Coatbridge puncher Ben McGivern headlines the evening as he takes on Wishaw’s Darren Johnstone for the Scottish Super Middleweight title.

Mulligan, from Castlemilk, has a load of amateur successes under his belt, having been brought through by Rob Roy ABC in Glasgow, and the Bellshill-based Fighting Scots Gym have high hopes for him.

Sutherland said: “He was flyweight for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and got to the quarter-finals but just missed out on the medals. “Lennon is a typical wee Glasgow light flyweight and he’s chasing titles. “He wants a title shot in his fifth fight. “He has the quality to go the distance, he’s a lovely wee boxer, and we reckon he’s a realistic prospect.
