Big Injury Concern For India Ahead Of Bangladesh Tests? Star Batter May Miss Duleep Trophy - Report

Indian cricket team T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav may miss the upcoming Duleep Trophy due to injury concerns, according to a report by Times Of India.

The report claimed that the star batter has checked into the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after suffering an injury to his right thumb during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament match against TNCA XI on Thursday.

With less than a week to go for the Duleep Trophy, there is a chance that he may end up missing the competition. It is also bad news for the Indian cricket team who will be facing Bangladesh in a two-match Test series in September.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav expressed his desire to "earn a spot" in the Indian Test team, saying that red-ball cricket is a priority for him.

After scoring 37 off just 29 balls in the first innings, Parag failed to convert a good start in the second innings, perishing to Saurab Kumar for 20 off 31 balls. He came out to bat with a positive intent smashing two sixes. However, his knock was cut shot due to a poor choice of shot on the final ball of the 69th over.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah wished India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav on his 34th birthday on Saturday, adding that he's excited to see him lead the team to more wins in the shortest format. "Happy Birthday to our T20I skipper and Mr. 360 with the bat, @surya_14kumar! I'm excited to see you lead the Men in Blue to many victories in the shortest format. Best wishes for the year ahead!” wrote Shah on his ‘X' account. Suryakumar, who also held the top ranking in the men's T20I rankings, etched himself forever into cricketing folklore with his stunning relay catch at long-off of David Miller in this year's T20 World Cup final at Kensington Oval in Barbados, which eventually paved the way for India to end an 11-year drought of winning a global title.
The ongoing Duleep Trophy is bringing out the some thrilling red-ball action with the participation of many big names of India's senior men's cricket team. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer are some of the senior players who featured in the first round match of the Duleep Trophy. While some players have left for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, Iyer, who is the captain of India D, did not find a place in India's Test squad and is currently playing the second round match against India A. However, this domestic series did not go as planned for Iyer.
The second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 got underway on Thursday in Anantpur, with India A and India B taking on India C and India D, respectively. Last week, India B thumped India A in Bengaluru, while India C edged out India D in Anantpur. Majority of the players, who were selected for the 1st Test against Bangladesh, including Rishabh Pant, K L Rahul and Shubman Gill, were rested for the second round of Duleep Trophy. Initially, BCCI's release announcing the teams for the second round of the Duleep Trophy matches, did not have the wicketkeeper-batter's name. 
Duleep Trophy 2024 LIVE: Struck by the departure of four stars to the India setup for the Bangladesh tour, including captain Shubman Gill, a depleted India A will be led by Mayank Agarwal for the Duleep Trophy 2024 second round game against India D. The latter lose Axar Patel, but otherwise retain a strong core, formed by the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal and Harshit Rana. With both sides having lost their first round games, a win is extremely crucial to keep hopes of winning the title alive.
