Amid Question On Ravindra Jadeja's 'Ointment', Indian Team Management Sends Message To Match-Referee

The Indian team management has informed ICC match referee Andy Pycroft that star spinner Ravindra Jadeja was using pain-relieving cream on the finger of his bowling hand in the video recordings that were widely shared on social media on the first day of the Nagpur Test against Australia, as ESPNcricinfo reported.

After visuals of spinner Jadeja was seen taking a substance off the back of Mohammed Siraj's palm and rubbing it on his bowling finger which went viral on social media after day one of the first Test between India and Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

At the time of the incident, Jadeja had already dismissed Steven Smith, Matt Renshaw, and Marnus Labuschagne and Australia was 120 for 5.

Although the event generated discussion on social media and in the news, it has been discovered that the Australian team did not bring the issue to the match referee's attention.

Left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann was the star of the show as Australia rolled over India for a paltry total of 109 on Day 1 of the ongoing first Test in Indore. The Queenslander bagged his maiden five-wicket haul as Australia managed to take a 47-run lead on the opening day at the Holkar Stadium. The 26-year-old later revealed that he had closely observed how Jadeja approaches his bowling on rank turners, which massively helped his case on Day 1 in Indore.

The first session saw India losing seven wickets with only 84 runs on the board after Matthew Kuhnemman and Nathan Lyon wrecked a havoc on the hosts' batting line-up. Post-lunch, India were skittled for 109 with Kuhnemann and Lyon returning with five and three wickets respectively. Later, Team India had a saving grace as their star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja removed Australia's top batting order and gave his side a chance to fightback.
