Dundee United are set to sign Alex Greive on loan from St Mirren. The Championship promotion pushers are closing in on a deal to sign the New Zealand international for the second half of the season.

The striker will look to add to United’s firepower as they look to get promoted back to the Premiership at the first time of asking.

Greive will provide another attacking option alongside Louis Moult and Tony Watt, Saints boss Stephen Robinson has reluctantly let Greive move to Tannadice until the summer.

It will also allow him to free up budget with the board again ready to back his push for another top six return and possible European assault.
