Alan Shearer admits the signs are ominous for would-be challengers to Manchester City and Liverpool with both clubs already making their mark in the summer transfer window.
Having missed out on Harry Kane last summer, City turned their attentions to Erling Haaland and have signed the Norway goal machine from Borussia Dortmund for £51million.
However, that move was promptly responded to by Jurgen Klopp as the Reds offset Sadio Mane leaving by recruiting Benfica forward Darwin Nunez.
Both players had Manchester United interested before their intentions became clear. Haaland bolsters a City side that scored 99 goals in the Premier League alone without him last season, while Nunez fired 34 goals in 41 outings across all competitions to emerge on the radar for elite European clubs.
