Friday's Sports Direct Men's FAI Cup first round fixture between Treaty United and Cork City at the Markets Field has been deferred until Saturday afternoon on compassionate grounds, the governing body confirmed this afternoon.
City have been in mourning this week following the tragic death of star striker Ruairi Keating's father.
Ciaran Keating was enroute to watch his son play against Sligo Rovers last Saturday when he died following a two-car collison on the N5 at Ballymiles, near Swinford in County Mayo, at around 3.35pm.
Ruairi Keating was substituted at half-time in the game as news emerged of his father's death.
The funeral of Ciaran Keating will take place on Thursday.
With the FAI Cup match scheduled for Friday night, it has been agreed to defer the game after a request from Cork.
The FAI said: "Both clubs and the FAI appreciate the understanding of supporters at this difficult time.
"Tickets purchased for the original fixture will remain valid for the new date."
