Zinedine Zidane move could provide Anthony Martial with chance of Manchester United redemption
Anthony Martial could be offered renewed hope at Manchester United if the club were to appoint Zinedine Zidane as their new manager.
Zidane is again being linked with a potential move to Old Trafford amid uncertainty over Erik ten Hag's position at the club. The Manchester Evening News reported on Tuesday the Dutchman is under pressure and Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos Group have studied possible replacements, one of which is Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi.
Another name in the running is Zidane, who has previously been linked with the manager's job and whose appointment would be particularly welcomed by one member of the first-team squad aside from ex-Real Madrid Raphael Varane.
Indeed, Martial is a player who has previously caught the eye of Zidane during his time in charge of Los Blancos. The French forward impressed during a pre-season friendly involving the clubs during the summer of 2017 and interest was registered in the forward midway through his final season in Spain. The same applied to David de Gea and Paul Pogba during an informal discussion.

Martial last featured for United in the 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth at the start of December and has been missing since after undergoing groin surgery. The 28-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the current campaign, though Ten Hag last month confirmed talks were being held over extending his stay in Manchester. “We are talking with Rapha Varane and Anthony Martial," he said. "That is an internal discussion between the club and the player."
