Zinchenko 'touted' to team up with compatriot Mykolenko at Everton

Manchester City have reportedly offered Oleksandr Zinchenko to Everton and Newcastle, unsure about the Ukrainian's long-term future at the Etihad.

Having already lured striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer, the champions have now turned their attention to the left-back market and are linked with Brighton and Spain international Marc Cucurella.

A new left-back could spell the end for 25-year-old Zinchenko, who only managed 15 Premier League appearances last campaign - his lowest total for three seasons.

With his future at the club still in question, Manchester City have offered the Ukrainian to both Everton and Newcastle, according to The Athletic.

A move to either Premier League club could see a change of role for Zinchenko, who has predominately featured on the left of defence under Pep Guardiola.

Everton, having only just signed Zinchenko's fellow countryman Vitaliy Mykolenko in January to replace left-back Lucas Digne, will mainly be focusing on midfield reinforcements.

Therefore, if Zinchenko were to arrive at Goodison Park, boss Frank Lampard may be more inclined to deploy him in midfield.

Both Zinchenko and Mykolenko have endured an emotional few months since Russia’s invasion of their homeland, and the Manchester City player may be tempted by a fresh start alongside his compatriot.

Meanwhile, Eddie Howe is preparing for a widely-expected spending spree at Newcastle, who are about to enjoy their first summer transfer window with the new Saudi owners.
