Zaha poor, Gallagher and Olise hooked: Crystal Palace player ratings in Newcastle defeat

Held onto a Saint-Maximin shot well but could do very little to stop Almiron's curling effort fly into his top corner. Was relatively untested following the goal and only called into action to claim crosses and corners.

Had a difficult first half and struggled to deal with Almiron for the opener as he was shrugged past before the goal. Recovered in the second half when Palace got on the front foot a little more.

Shepherded the ball out of play well several times in the first half while Newcastle players pressured him. Was one of Palace's best players in an otherwise miserable evening on Tyneside.

Not as dominant as he could have been in defence and in a physical battle against Joelinton and Dan Burn from set-pieces.

Very rarely had options to play the ball forward and seemed frustrated by it. Did not have much of an impact going forwards with either Olise or Ayew ahead of him.

Broke up play a couple of times and was one of the brighter players in an otherwise dreadful first half. Replaced by McArthur on the hour mark with Palace trying to up their tempo and control midfield more.

Had little impact on proceedings from midfield in the first half as Palace weren't at the races. Helped push Palace up the field more in the second period thanks to James McArthur's substitution.

Watched the game played around him in midfield as Palace couldn't get a foothold in the game at all. Earned himself a stupid booking right at the end of the first half for a foul on Bruno Guimaraes

Little to no impact in the first half as Palace were outplayed in every department. Got some chances to beat his early man in the second half but wasted them before firing his first shot of the match wide of Dubravka's post after being teed up by Edouard.
