Youngster sends classy message after Aston Villa transfer
New Aston Villa signing Omari Kellyman has sent a heartfelt message to his now-former club Derby County.
Villa have snapped up the 16-year-old for a fee of around £600,000 from the Rams, who remain in administration as they look for a new buyer.
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder – a Northern Ireland youth international – has been part of Derby’s under-18 squad and was named on the first-team bench by Wayne Rooney earlier this season.
After his move to Villa was confirmed, Kellyman took to social media to send a classy message to the Rams, where he spent 10 years.
"After a weird few weeks I can finally say a proper farewell to Derby County,” he said.
"Unfortunately my time at the club has come to an end but the game takes you where you have to go.
"First of all I would like to thank all of the players and staff that have helped me along my journey so far over the past 10 years.
"I am grateful for all the memories I have made and the opportunities I've been given and I appreciate absolutely everything this club has done for me and can't thank my team mates and the staff enough for making me into the player and person I am today. So grateful for this amazing club #DTID."
