Young Boys 1-3 Man City highlights and reaction after Haaland and Akanji secure victory

Manchester City kept up their 100 per cent Champions League record this season with a 3-1 win over Young Boys.

Manuel Akanji's opener was cancelled out by Meschak Elia's equaliser a few moments later, all just after half-time.

Erling Haaland fired home his first goal in the competition this season from the spot after Rodri was fouled in the area.

He thought he had grabbed an assist when substitute Julian Alvarez rolled the ball home not longer after his 67th-minute spot kick but VAR deemed Jack Grealish to have handled in the build up.

Haaland made sure of the points four minutes from time when he spent a brilliant goal into the corner of the net to make the final few moments of the game much more bearable.

It wasn't an easy contest for the holders with rain slashing down on the artificial turf but the victory means City only need beat Young Boys in two weeks' time to secure their knockout spot.

Rico Lewis' meteoric rise at Manchester City continued with a Player of the Match performance in the Champions League at Young Boys - but the teenager was more frustrated with one particular aspect of his game at full time.

Lewis started a second-successive Champions League game after shining in midfield in Leipzig earlier this month, this time lining up in his more familiar inverted right-back role in Switzerland.

Speaking after the game, Lewis' mind immediately went to the goal City conceded - a simple ball down the middle for Meschack Elia to score - and his role in the sloppy defending that allowed the chance.
