'You never heard it from me' - Ex-Spurs ace has their say on Antonio Conte at THFC
Tottenham Hotspur and Antonio Conte took a huge step towards qualifying for the Champions League next season after hammering Aston Villa at Villa Park 4-0.
Son Heung-min opened the scoring after just three minutes, getting Spurs off to the perfect start. After Aston Villa finished the first half the better side, Dejan Kulusevski doubled the lead just five minutes into the second period.
Then within the space of five minutes, Son had completed his hat-trick, first racing onto a superb flicked header from Harry Kane before converting from Kulusevski’s cutback.
After Son’s second goal, Gary Lineker took to social media to praise the job done by Conte at Spurs, tweeting: “Whisper it, and you never heard it from me, but Conte’s got @SpursOfficial buzzing.”
It’s hard to argue with the Match of the Day host, especially considering it’s now four wins in a row for Spurs. The Premier League table is making much better reading for those connected with the club, too.
Conte’s side were able to capitalise on Arsenal’s slip up at home to Brighton & Hove Albion to move three points clear of their north London rivals, who sit fifth in the table. Arsenal do have a game in hand, but Spurs’ goal difference is currently far superior should it come down to that.
